Professor Tariq Iqbal

Tariq Iqbal is Professor of Clinical Microbiome and Director of the University of Birmingham’s Microbiome Treatment Centre.

Professor Iqbal is NIHR National Specialty Lead for Gastroenterology, and his research interests in Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD) include iron metabolism and anaemia and the microbiome. He was Chief Investigator for the first Faecal Microbiota Transplantation (FMT) trial in ulcerative colitis in the UK.
