Dr Steven Blackburn

Dr Blackburn is the Academic Lead for Patient and Public Involvement and Engagement (PPIE) at the Birmingham BRC. He is an Associate Professor at the University of Birmingham, and he has recognised expertise in public involvement and community engagement in research.

Steven also leads involvement and engagement activities in the NIHR Research Support Service (Birmingham & Partners) and the NHS England West Midlands Secure Data Environment. He is very active in developing initiatives and programmes to strengthen regional collaboration for PPIE. Steven is also involved in several studies in the UK and South East Asia, bringing together public members and researchers to work in partnership in research.
