Dr Claire Palles

Claire Palles leads the Gastrointestinal Cancer Genetics group at the University of Birmingham.

Claire’s group aims to identify and characterise common and rare genetic variants associated with an increased risk of gastrointestinal cancers and their precursors. They also investigate genetic variation that might predict high risk of adverse events following treatment with cancer therapeutics. Claire is chief investigator of a clinical research study called The Immune Checkpoint Inhibitor Genetics study (ICI Genetics), which collects samples and treatment side effect data from patients treated with immune checkpoint inhibitors.
