Dr Sohini Chakrabortee

Bio
Sohini joined the BRC in June 2024 to lead on the IP and Commercialisation (IPC) opportunities across our research programme. Sohini is responsible for developing our IPC strategy, ensuring that academics at all levels understand and take appropriate steps to protect their IP and maximise on any commercialisation opportunities that may arise from their research. She designs and drives appropriate delivery of IPC training. She also provides tailored support to academics to assess IPC opportunities and enhance industrial engagement to boost commercialisation of BRC research.
Sohini is a scientist by training with extensive research experience from University of Cambridge and Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). In the past 10 years she has gained a breadth of experience in public (at University of Birmingham) and private sector (Deloitte LLP). At UoB she has held various posts including senior research facilitator (within MDS and EU and International) and programme manager (NIHR Global Surgery Unit). She worked as a management consultant at Deloitte on a range of projects from digital transformation to financial transformation. She has led on healthcare and research strategy, global programme management, change management, and commercialisation of healthcare solutions.
