Dr Richard Horniblow
position
Associate Professor in Gastrointestinal Biomedical Science
Bio
Dr Horniblow’s research focuses on how different dietary components contribute to the development and progression of intestinal diseases and in particular how the intestinal microbiome is implicated. Most recently he is developing new orally administered live bio-therapeutics that are able to deliver highly viable anaerobic gut bacteria to the colon that may have clinical potential in treating Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD). This translational work is underpinned by pioneering Faecal Microbiome Transplantation (FMT) studies undertaken at the University of Birmingham.
