Experimental medicine research studies increasingly rely upon the use of novel biomarkers, and new or repurposed tests. These tests and biomarkers must be robustly evaluated. One of our overarching objectives is to develop studies that show whether a diagnostic test, biomarker or prognostic model is fit for purpose. Our theme also provides an integrated, ethical data infrastructure to drive experimental medicine and translate it efficiently, for patient benefit. Addressing specific research questions and parallel cross-BRC innovation in gathering and interpreting experimental and other data will accelerate benefits of data-driven discovery, translation and digital innovation for patients and communities across all BRC themes.
