How to Acknowledge the BRC in Publications

This page describes how to Acknowledge the NIHR Birmingham BRC in all your outputs. It is also important to correctly display the NIHR identity on your outputs too. We have created a page all about the NIHR Identity here.

All publications (including conference posters) that have an author who is affiliated to the BRC must acknowledge the BRC in author affiliations, funding and by a disclaimer. If acknowledgements are omitted, this means your publication will not be included as an output in the returns to the NIHR which are part of the contractual reporting process. If in doubt, please contact the BRC Strategic Project Support Officer, Linda Briscoe ( for advice.

Please also email the final draft of a publication to Linda so that she can check the acknowledgements prior to submission. Please note that the NIHR does not support animal research so publications that are purely animal based should not acknowledge the NIHR.

We have produced a tool which will help you acknowledge the BRC correctly. Simply follow the instructions on the tool, and it will provide the wording that you can copy and paste into your publication.

You may also download the PDF guidance which also outlines how to acknowledge the BRC correctly.
